a question from mysticaltramping.
“what did you think of Decoded? I’ve heard good things, debating maybe reading it.”
I’ve been wanting to write about Decoded since I finished it, so thank you for asking. I would definitely recommend that you pick it up, if you have any sort of interest in Jay-Z or hip hop in general or even just the mystery of great lyricism. This book is about all of those things, on...

dilemma.
I have a ticket to the sold out Young the Giant show tomorrow night at Schuba’s. I don’t know their stuff very well but I like what I’ve heard and they’re getting a fair bit of attention and my friends are all yay about them so I’m sure it’ll be a good gig.
However, my co-star and bff just got guestlisted for a private Ted Leo show in South Bend, also tomorrow...

“Teenage girls curl up together like newborn puppies, painting one another’s toes as if they were licking one another’s ears. If you sit long enough in any Starbucks, or loiter outside any high school, you will see girls climbing onto one another’s laps, kissing on the lips. They aren’t hitting on each other, not precisely, though they are in a constant state of arousal that borders...

Tonight’s reminder: it doesn’t matter how much you work your ass off, how long you’ve been a music industry professional, nor does it matter that you’ve never so much as kissed a musician- if you’re a woman at a show, especially if you have friends on tour, someone will always insist on calling you a groupie.

“When I was a kid, I had records, but they weren’t that important to me. I had Prince’s Purple Rain, a Chicago 45, and Black Sabbath’s Born Again, but I was more into Atari computer games. And kites.”

Drugs, sex, and rock ‘n roll! Yes, please!
(And I guess you can be addicted to music then?)
Well we already knew that, didn’t we?
I have actively, at various points, gladly chosen music over the other three.
If I’m going to be a spinster anyway I should at least be a fabulous one. I’m...

I have tickets for both Cold War Kids and Bright Eyes in March, and I’m excited for both. Looking forward to both of those albums, as well as Patrick’s solo record, and the new Strokes album. I was just telling Lauren J yesterday that I’d super certainly be excited to see TAI again though. And all the MCR shows I’m going to in April and May!
Do you want to know a...
